Your food choices each day affect your health — how you feel today, tomorrow, and in the future.
Good nutrition is an important part of leading a healthy lifestyle. Combined with physical activity, your diet can help you to reach and maintain a healthy weight, reduce your risk of chronic diseases (like heart disease and cancer), and promote your overall health.

THE IMPACT OF NUTRITION ON YOUR HEALTH

Unhealthy eating habits have contributed to the obesity epidemic in the United States: about one-third of U.S. adults (33.8%) are obese and approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2—19 years are obese.1  Even for people at a healthy weight, a poor diet is associated with major health risks that can cause illness and even death. These include heart disease, hypertension (high blood pressure), type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis, and certain types of cancer. By making smart food choices, you can help protect yourself from these health problem.

The risk factors for adult chronic diseases, like hypertension and type 2 diabetes, are increasingly seen in younger ages, often a result of unhealthy eating habits and increased weight gain. Dietary habits established in childhood often carry into adulthood, so teaching children how to eat healthy at a young age will help them stay healthy throughout their life.
The link between good nutrition and healthy weight, reduced chronic disease risk, and overall health is too important to ignore. By taking steps to eat healthy, you'll be on your way to getting the nutrients your body needs to stay healthy, active, and strong. As with physical activity, making small changes in your diet can go a long way, and it's easier than you think!

Post "12 Yoga Exercises for Contouring the Face for a Slimmer Look " You can do it every morning :D

An excessive chubbiness of the cheeks and double chin makes you unattractive and diminishes the natural glow of your face. Contouring, the makeup trick cannot help you for a longer duration, thus it is the temporary solution to make the fine curves and look more beautiful. But, if you want to give the definition to your face then the toning exercise should also be included at the end of the exercise regimen.

How many types of faces are there?

There are two types of faces namely, Meaty Face and Boney Face. Meaty face looks older than their actual age, they’ve double china and they’re overweight but the Boney face looks younger than their age, they’ve no double chin and they’re usually underweight. Perhaps, the below-listed exercises are very beneficial for the Meaty faces because they’re based on the stretch and hold technique which will slim the face at a

faster rate. You have the freedom to do these
exercises wherever you want to and at whatever the time it is. There is no hard and fast rule that you should do these exercises along with the typical exercise workout. If you’re watching TV or chatting over the internet, you can cut down the excessive fat of the cheeks by doing them. It would hardly take your 5 minutes to complete 1 set of exercise. We would suggest you to opt for three exercises from the below-mentioned options and then switch to other exercises.

1. SMILE

Our attractive smile is one of the main reasons which appeals to everyone, but what about if we do it as an exercise to enhance our facial features. This exercise is also good for changing your mood. But you don’t need to open your mouth. Close your mouth and smile widely. Hold for 10 seconds and then come back in the relaxed position. Repeat this exercise for about 8-10 times.

All you have to do is to open your mouth, drop down your lower jaw as much as possible and say ‘Ha-ha-ha’, hold for ten seconds. Relax your jaw by bringing them inward and repeat it for about 8-10 times. Don’t feel awkward when you attempt this exercise because it is the best trick to stretch your jaws.

This exercise tones the upper and lower cheeks. If you want to tone your neck muscles along with the facial muscles, then you can try this exercise. The tongue movements are involved in protruding the tongue out and holding it about 10 seconds. Repeat this exercise for about 8-10 times.

7. TRY THE POPULAR POUT MOVE

When we make different poses for the perfect selfie, a pout is an inevitable pose but how about if we also incorporate this pose as an exercise. Make the pout pose and then release in such a way that you should stretch your cheek muscles. It’ll provide the toning effect as well but if you want an extra effect then attains this pose and look up to the ceiling, hold for 10 seconds. For further benefits, look side by side while attaining the pout pose and releasing them to stretch the side muscles as well. Repeat this exercise for about 8-10 times.

If you want to get rid of double chin then this is the best exercise that can maintain the proper shape of your neck and chin area. It’s simple, sit straight and look up at the ceiling and hold for 10 seconds. Then repeat this exercise for about 8-10 times.

The excessive fat in your chin can also be reduced by doing this exercise. Move your lower lip over the upper lip and then look at the ceiling and hold for 10 seconds then come back to the starting position. Make sure that you’ll maintain the position till the completion of 8-10 repetitions of this exercise.

10. SAY ‘O’ BUT IN AN EXTENDED NECK

It is the modification of the ‘X and O’ exercise but in this exercise you’ve to say ‘O’ continuously while going in extension and coming back to the starting position. It’ll provide the three effects including toning the cheek muscles, reducing the double chin and shaping the collar bones.

11. EYE EXERCISES

What Is Yoga ? Did you know it ?

Did you know? :" what is Yoga ? "
Most of us are accustomed to looking outside of ourselves for fulfillment. We are living in a world that conditions us to believe that outer attainments can give us what we want. Yet again and again our experiences show us that nothing external can completely fulfill the deep longing within for "something more." Most of the time, however, we find ourselves striving toward that which always seems to lie just beyond our reach. We are caught up in doing rather than being, in action rather than awareness. It is hard for us to picture a state of complete calmness and repose in which thoughts and feelings cease to dance in perpetual motion. Yet it is through such a state of quietude that we can touch a level of joy and understanding impossible to achieve otherwise.

It is said in the Bible: "Be still and know that I am God." In these few words lies the key to the science of Yoga. This ancient spiritual science offers a direct means of stilling the natural turbulence of thoughts and restlessness of body that prevent us from knowing what we really are.

Ordinarily our awareness and energies are directed outward, to the things of this world, which we perceive through the limited instruments of our five senses. Because human reason has to rely upon the partial and often deceptive data supplied by the physical senses, we must learn to tap deeper and more subtle levels of awareness if we would solve the enigmas of life — Who am I? Why am I here? How do I realize Truth?

Yoga is a simple process of reversing the ordinary outward flow of energy and consciousness so that the mind becomes a dynamic center of direct perception no longer dependent upon the fallible senses but capable of actually experiencing Truth.

By practicing the step-by-step methods of Yoga taking nothing for granted on emotional grounds or through blind faith we come to know our oneness with the Infinite Intelligence, Power, and Joy which gives life to all and which is the essence of our own Self.

In past centuries many of the higher techniques of Yoga were little understood or practiced, owing to mankind's limited knowledge of the forces that run the universe. But today scientific investigation is rapidly changing the way we view ourselves and the world. The traditional materialistic conception of life has vanished with the discovery that matter and energy are essentially one: every existing substance can be reduced to a pattern or form of energy, which interacts and interconnects with other forms. Some of today's most celebrated physicists go a step further, identifying consciousness as the fundamental ground of all being. Thus modern science is confirming the ancient principles of Yoga, which proclaim that unity pervades the universe.

The word yoga itself means "union": of the individual consciousness or soul with the Universal Consciousness or Spirit. Though many people think of yoga only as physical exercises — the asanas or postures that have gained widespread popularity in recent decades — these are actually only the most superficial aspect of this profound science of unfolding the infinite potentials of the human mind and soul.

There are various paths of Yoga that lead toward this goal, each one a specialized branch of one comprehensive system:

Hatha Yoga — a system of physical postures, or asanas, whose higher purpose is to purify the body, giving one awareness and control over its internal states and rendering it fit for meditation.

Karma Yoga — selfless service to others as part of one's larger Self, without attachment to the results; and the performance of all actions with the consciousness of God as the Doer.

Mantra Yoga — centering the consciousness within through japa, or the repetition of certain universal root-word sounds representing a particular aspect of Spirit.

Bhakti Yoga — all-surrendering devotion through which one strives to see and love the divinity in every creature and in everything, thus maintaining an unceasing worship.

Jnana (Gyana) Yoga — the path of wisdom, which emphasizes the application of discriminative intelligence to achieve spiritual liberation.

Raja Yoga — the royal or highest path of Yoga, immortalized by Bhagavan Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita and formally systematized in the second century B.C. by the Indian sage Patanjali, which combines the essence of all the other paths.

At the heart of the Raja Yoga system, balancing and unifying these various approaches, is the practice of definite, scientific methods of meditation that enable one to perceive, from the very beginning of one's efforts, glimpses of the ultimate goal — conscious union with the inexhaustibly blissful Spirit.

The quickest and most effective approach to the goal of Yoga employs those methods of meditation that deal directly with energy and consciousness. It is this direct approach that characterizes Kriya Yoga, the particular form of Raja Yoga meditation taught by Paramahansa Yogananda.

Yoga burn for weight loss

6 yoga exercises for weight loss - Yoga for weight loss easy

You will learn :" 6 yoga exercises for weight loss " Just Do It . Weight loss is easy

Yoga is an ancient form of exercise and way of living that focuses on your mind, body and soul. It's a holistic practice for all ages. The word 'Yoga' has been derived from the Sanskrit word 'Yug' which refers to the union of our individual consciousness and the universal consciousness.

"Yoga is not a religion. It is a science, science of well-being, science of youthfulness, science of integrating body, mind and soul", says Amit Ray, Yoga and Vipassana: An Integrated Life Style. Yoga is not a recent phenomenon. It is an ancient Indian practice which is associated not just with the physical well-being of the body but with the overall health of a human being. I see yoga as a holistic package, which unlike other physical activities aims at cleansing and rejuvenating the human body from outside as well as within. If one adopts the practice as a part of everyday routine, one can actually feel the difference - mentally, physically as well spiritually. And as an added bonus, it can bring about weight loss too.

With the growing trend of people getting more cautious of their expanding waistlines and increased instances of metabolic disorders - cancer, diabetes and others - there has been a sudden upsurge in people prioritising their health and resorting to tailor-made diet plans and fitness regimes.
For the longest time in my life, I was of the opinion that yoga involves a set of exercises where holding certain postures for a few seconds was the main objective. I used to think of it as a regime meant for those who were already fit but were keen on building their flexibility. I could somehow never relate it to being an effective tool for weight loss as compared to the high intensive workout sessions in the gyms. It took me quite some time to understand the mechanism of different asanas and their efficacy but I must tell you, the understanding of it was enlightening, affirmative and oh, so gratifying!

Yoga for Weight Loss

To understand the importance of yoga and its relationship with human body, I got in touch with a well renowned yoga practitioner as well as fitness expert, Seema Sondhi. On being asked how yoga helps in losing weight, she proposed to start from the very basics of the practice.

According to her, before we target weight loss, it is important to understand the various factors that contribute in weight gain. Apart from faulty dietary habits, one should identify that weight gain also stems from inefficient functioning of various bodily functions. Yoga has some of the most basic breathing practices at its base which aims at cleansing, balancing and rejuvenating our inner organs and their functions. Various breathing exercises and basic asanas help in increasing metabolic and heart rates. Once you are healed from within, the focus then shifts towards the outer body.

"I can't really pin-point any specific set of asanas for weight loss. Almost all of them aim at cleansing your inner mechanism, strengthening your core and stamina, increasing flexibility, and upping your metabolic rate," says Seema.'

She explains how yoga aims at making you fit by increasing flexibility. It involves twisting the body, forward and backward bends, inversions and other poses that help in opening up the otherwise rusted muscles and thereby facilitate weight loss.

Here are few simple yoga asanas to help you get started:
1. Surya Namaskar
One of the basic, most well-known and widely practiced asanassurya namaskarliterally translates to sun salutation. It comprises a series of twelve different yoga poses that focus on various parts of body. What makes surya namaskar great for the entire body is the fact that it involves twelve different poses encompassed in one - for example, basic prayer pose, forward bend and the bhujangasana (cobra pose).

yoga-weight-loss-2
According to various experts surya namaskar is a great way to keep your body active as it helps in exercising all possible areas of your body. It helps in strengthening your skeletal system including ligaments and also aids in easing stress and anxiety.
2. The warrior pose or Veerabhadrasana
It involves going into the mountain pose, followed by stretching one of your legs back and with the other leg going into a lunge like position with your knee at a ninety degree positioning and your hands stretched right above your head. You can take this further to the veerabhadrasana II or warrior pose 2 wherein you bring your hands in front of the chest and straighten your stretched leg, pointing it outwards while your other leg is still at ninety degrees and your both arms are stretched out wide apart.

The warrior poses work on your legs, thighs, back and arms. It helps in improving blood circulation.

3. Triangular pose or Trikonasana
Start with a wide legged stance; turn your right foot out. Now stretch your arms out, wide open pushing the right side of your waistline over your right leg and slowly go down, facing downwards with a flat back. Keep your right palm on the ground (you can choose to keep it in front of your right foot or behind it) or on a block with your left arm stretched upwards. Repeat the other side.
yoga-weight-loss-5
This asana works on the sides of your body, arms and thighs.
4. Upward plank or Purvottanasana
This may seem a bit difficult to crack towards the start but the results that this asana yield will leave you much gratified. This works extensively on your back, shoulders, arms, spine, wrists and fortifies muscles. It is also great for the respiratory system. It is great for the core strength of the body as it works on your legs, inner thigh muscles as wells as hips.
yoga-weight-loss-6
Sit with your legs stretched in front of you. Put your hands behind your hips pointing towards your feet. Now, point your feet, prepare your body to rise up. Raise your body from the tailbone and try pulling your head back as well. It is the exact opposite of the position which you get in just before preparing for a conventional push up.

yoga-weight-loss-75. The boat pose: You lie down on your back and as the name suggests go in to a V shaped position resembling a boat. Try holding the position for 10 seconds to begin with and increase the bar with every passing day. You will feel your stomach muscles going for a toss but trust me, this will kill that stubborn belly fat.

6. The bridge pose: Lie down on your back with your hands stretched sideways now fold your knees, spread them out and raise your body up from your pelvis area. Take support from your hands and hold the position. This works wonders on your hips, thighs, stomachas well as back.
yoga-weight-loss-8
Physical exercise has always been held important for the overall well-being as well as to keep health related troubles at bay but it should always be kept in mind that any form of physical activity will remain futile and unproductive if not teamed with proper diet.

As the Democratic National Convention wrapped up Thursday in Philadelphia, Malia Obama was spotted at the Cashmere Cat set at Lollapalooza. Social media users photographed and filmed Obama, 18, in the crowd watching the Norwegian producer.

Obama was also spotted taking in the Mac Miller set Friday.
A White House spokesperson declined to comment. This is not Obama's first visit to Chicago's largest music festival. She caused a stir in 2014 when she was spotted at Chance the Rapper's set.

4. Relax your head and neck and let your shoulder blades slide down toward your feet. Breathe deeply. Hold for at least one minute.

Why it's good for you: Downward–Facing Dog is a top-notch upper body strengthener. And as an inversion pose (meaning your hips are higher than your heart), it increases circulation.

3. Warrior II
